I very much enjoy photographing weddings back in Melbourne. I travel down from Central Victoria to arrive about midday, ready to not only photograph the beautiful bride, in all her preparations, but I was also meeting Leanne for the very first time. And it was such a pleasure to meet Leanne. She was the most beautiful bride, friendly, joyful, and a mother to two gorgeous little people. One of which was to be the flower girl, who was such a delight to photograph all day. Leanne was incredibly relaxed, which surprised me, a little, as she not only had two small children to look after on her wedding day, plus all the usual organisations surrounding weddings, but this girl had gone above and beyond in all her details. She had made her own wedding cake and was in the midst of finishing off the final decorations that morning AND she was her own florist, and gone out early to the flower market to arrange all the table decorations and bouquets - AMAZING!
Leanne and Steven, who come from Ireland, decided on the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens for their intimate wedding with their close friends and family, some who had travelled from Ireland. The ceremony was to take place on a secluded patch of lawn, overlooking Melbourne city on a glorious sun filled afternoon. The couple had arranged Blakes Feast to supply drinks for cocktail hour with their guests, after the ceremony. Leanne and Steven wanted to keep the day intimate and casual, and most importantly, they wanted to spend most of the day with their friends and family, and not be taken away for hours in order to take photographs. I completely respect and love to work with my couples requests in order to achieve their wishes for their special once in a lifetime event. So after sharing drinks and laughs with their guests, we casually walked through the Royal Botanic Gardens for their portraits, before they headed to the Botanical for their official wedding reception.
This couple are a beautiful reminder that life is about enjoying the journey with the one you love. Congratulations Leanne and Steven. It was an absolute joy meeting you and your family, and I love love loved photographing your big day.
