It was such an honour to be asked to second shoot with Bendigo photographer Hawkswood and Design. I reached out to them soon after relocating to Central Victoria from Melbourne. As a photographer from Melbourne, it is not always easy establishing yourself as a photographer in the Bendigo region, and I was so grateful to meet and work with this beautiful, talented couple who are also newish to the area.
I arrive to weddings, as always, full of excitement and full of energy to photograph this gorgeous Bendigo wedding to be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Bendigo.
I had not yet met the bride or groom, so it was a little bizarre trying to navigate these relationships on their wedding day. Fortunately for me, this couple were super relaxed, friendly and oh so kind.
The ceremony was followed by a cute, but very generous afternoon tea in the church hall, in order to accommodate the huge number of guests.
We had to whisk them away soon after however, for portraits at Canterbury Park, Bendigo, then onto Balgownie Estate, Bendigo, in which the formal reception was to be held. Balgownie Estate, Bendigo is such a beautiful destination for photography and a relaxed but stylish wedding reception. The venue overlooks the vineyard and and the guests were able to enjoy canapés and drinks overlooking the setting sun. Perfection!
I am just in awe at how Dave approaches the day, with such calmness, and honest dedication to his art, I hope to one day work together again with you. And I wish the happy couple a truely long life together with many babies in arms.
